CHILDHOOD PROVERB: If You Don't Have Anything Nice to Say - Don't Say Anything At All

If you are not a musician - you will never understand what a musician goes through. As we play our instrument (voice included) so easily - other people think that our practice must be easy too.

Well - they are wrong.

Musicians practice hours resulting in finger nails splitting, hands cramping, backs stiff, necks sore... all for that one to five minutes of hopeful perfection.  Know this: the pain we go through is worth it all. Not for the listener’s sake but for the musician. We have music in us that must come out or our pain is unbearable.

Then some poor soul comes along and criticizes the performance because it did not sound like canned music.
Canned music is mixed down, corrected to a tee, and molded into the sound engineer’s specs. It is nice and has its place.

Live music breathes with the life of the musician.

Sit back and listen to what this musician has to say. If you like it – that’s only the butter to my warm, tasty bread.

RENEWING MY MIND : what are you abiding in?

It's Open Season for Our Minds by the constant chattering media that is battling for our attention in order to bombard our every waking moment.

Phones are stuck to palms.
Eyes glued to computer screens.
Ear-buds growing out of people's heads.

This media is filled with endless opinions on multitudes of subjects flying back and forth.
Sometimes I want to scream, 'Shut Up!"

With all this information - why are people still so stressed out and fearful?

Where is the peace?
Where is the joy and happiness?

It ain't gonna be found in a bottle of mindless, chattering talk.

So where can we find true peace?

This peace only comes from the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word, the Bible.

Every day, we must take time away from the chattering media to read the Bible, worship and praise God.
In other words: Renew our minds.

"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5

"Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers." III John 1:2

'Soul Prospers' means to read and study the Bible, to pray, and to worship and praise God Almighty.
When I do this - I have a peace that I cannot explain. When I don't - it's not a pretty sight.
I encourage you to renew you minds.

*If you want the peace and safety that only Jesus Christ can give and you want to ask Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior: here is a prayer:

"Lord Jesus.
I want to be right with you.
I know that I am a sinner.
I want to ask you to forgive me

Romans 10:9 -11 says: "That if I shall confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in my heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead, I will be saved. For with my heart I believe unto righteousness; and with my mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture says, Whoever believes on the Lord Jesus will not be ashamed."

I believe that you died and rose for me
I accept you as my Lord and Savior.
I pray this in the Name of Jesus.
I confess that I am now born again. Amen.
Thank you Jesus!

If you received Jesus Christ as Lord, please email me so I can rejoice with you.

PLANNING: MY DESIGN OF WHAT I WILL WRITE

Anything in life needs planning.

A vacation.
Getting that great job.
Sewing a shirt.
Crocheting a throw:

The list is endless.

This means: I need a plan because without a plan, I wander aimlessly in a cesspool of nothing while going nowhere.

Therefore Karla, writer and music composer, will develop solid plans.

So I sit back, relax and let the creative juices flow.

After I get an idea: Here are six steps from the book, Essentials of English to get my work done. (written in my own special lingo)

1. I need a purpose. (How do I know where I am    going unless I have a purpose?)
2. Create the major parts
3. Outline the major parts and arrange them in    the correct order.
4. Develop the guts for each major part
5. Outline the guts of each major part.
6. Create subdivisions. Outline them.

Taking the time to do this,
though it seems a bit tedious,
will bring great results.

In other words:
know where I am going:
get the help I need to get there;
and don't quit until it is completed.

TRANSITIONS - The hairy and humbling trails we must take.

Well, it seems I am in a transition:
Once again.
I have become quite comfortable where I am.
However,
where I am is slowly becoming uncomfortable.
I want to go to the other side
but my binoculars do not work
and
I cannot see what is waiting for me over there..
Yet, I am compelled to start walking.
The one thing I do know:
as I listen to the Holy Spirit's guidance,
I will not stray off course.
Even when the trail is a bit dark and foreboding.
I have been here before
and
I know that I can trust in the Lord Jesus Christ
with all my heart.
I will humble myself and obey.

EDITING: THE HORRORS & THE HALLOWS

EDITING: THE HORRORS & THE HALLOWS

For the past 90 days I have dug deep into the editing process for my children’s book. I have been pushing hard because of a dead line.

It feels like I’m aboard a lone ship on a windless ocean, lying listlessly on the dry deck staring up at a pale blue sky of emptiness. My characters, with ferocious faces, impatiently wait for me to speak for them.

As I trudge through the same unfitting paragraph over and over; the appropriate words still refuse to flow off my tongue.

My mind is parched and sunburned.

Then fitting words that seem to come out of nowhere bring a fresh breeze to my book, like frisky winds billowing a ship’s sails into fluffy clouds.

Now my ship skims across the frothy water toward a yellow sliver of light dawning on the ocean of understanding.

I am free.

The Tabors: Rockets Over Rhema Volunteers

I like to post on Mondays however yesterday I was 'out of it'   for all, (I mean all....) day long.

Sunday, June 30th, we worked at my church, Rhema Bible Church, for the Rockets Over Rhema. This is a 4th of July Celebration my pastor puts on for the benefit of the town of Broken Arrow.

We had: food, blowup slides for the children (about 7 - 10 of them), excellent bands, a 4th of July Show, sponsors, car show and over 50,000 people on our church campus.

I am there from 9am until 1am the next day.

Brian, Jennifer, Christopher and I help out in the sponsor row and also we hold onto the magnificent door prizes. It's so much fun to see the peoples faces as they pick up their prizes.

Here is a picture of me and Lorena. I am hot and sweaty. She is looking cool and lovely. Hmmm... I need to hang out with her for some pointers on how to stay lovely on a hot day.

Brian is in his element: directing and managing. Chris is in the background drinking lots of fluids. Something all of us were doing that day.

Being part of a church that cares for it's community is a great thing.

I love to create!

Hello!

If you know Karla - you know she loves to come up with new ideas      ---All The Time---!

I decided to harness one those ideas.
Brian (my husband - the design engineer) and I are creating crosses.

Here is a picture of our first cross called: The Shell Cross #001 created by KJBT
(Karla Jean Bujewski Tabor and Jesse Brian Tabor)

We will be showing this new artwork at Rhema's Garage Sale Saturday June 1st, 7am - 2pm.

If you know my son, Chris - then you know he loves to draw. Below is the cross logo he drew free hand for me.

Here it is:

Praying for the people of Moore, Oklahoma

Lord Jesus.
I pray for the people of Moore for a quick recovery.
I pray for the people who lost loved ones for comfort in this time of extreme hurt.
I pray for people of our nation to open our hearts, wallets and time to help our brothers and sisters in this time of need.
I pray for the first-Responders for strength, wisdom and protection.
I pray that anyone who would steal, harm or con the people of Moore or Shawnee would be stopped in their tracks, found out and put in jail.

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 1 Timothy 2:1

But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?
1 John 3:17
The last of the storm clouds.

Thank you Father in the name of Jesus.

BOOK PITCHES - Coming up with a finger-lickn' good one.

I attended the SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) Conference this past Saturday.

One of the many things I learned was how important a ‘Pitch’ is.

What is a Book Pitch and why in the world do I need to come up with one?

Here’s how I answered myself: ENVISION THIS: Our TVs are taken over by a commercial about a blockbuster action/adventure movie. The imposing narrator’s cavernous voice demands our attention and draws us to the television, listening to his ‘Pitch’.

Within seconds, either I will have to see the film or I am detested, promising to never waste my time watching the movie.

Hmm…..

In conclusion: since I attended the conference I have in my nimble fingers a ticket to send my manuscript to one of the publishers.

I am going to send my children’s book and need to write a pitch to wow the publisher.

Let the work commence: Thank you Lord Jesus for wisdom, fortitude and an outstanding Book Pitch.

Philippians 3:13-14 "Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

Reaching the Moon

As I sit here way too early in the morning, I want ask:.
How does the photographer take a picture so clear of the moon?
         \Isn't it amazing?

The photographer is Peter Lik. He started taking pictures when he was a young boy. He is self-taught but he kept at it. Now, his photos are in the Smithsonian.

A successful business man wrote something like this: (if you know Karla, you know that she likes to make up her own words) If I can do the same thing for a year - I will be very good at it. If I can stay steady working at my craft for 10 years - I will be known all over the world.

That's why it's called "Work".

Today, Feb. 20th, 2013.

I am starting up a new blog with a new name.

 KARLA'S KADENCE.

In this blog, I will be writing about my family, friends, new projects or just a thought. I have been a musician since I was eight. And I have been writing, creating stories as long as I can remember.

So here goes.

Today, Rhema Bible Church is having their Winter Bible Seminar. God has moved greatly in the meetings. Then, this morning I woke up to this beautiful sight, a lovely 2-3 inch snowfall. It reminds me of God's cleansing power. How God can take the ugliness of sin, forgive and make us white as snow.
