THE RIGHT ACTION KILLS DOUBT

Karla Tabor
March 20, 2014

As composers of music we think of our songs as our children so that positive comments never seem good enough. The negative comments, well, they are devastating.

Romans 8:36-38 “Just as it is written, 'FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.' But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, can separate us from the love of God.

Letting comments stop progress is like looking back when we are plowing a field.

Luke 9:62 “But Jesus told him, "Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God."

Stay focused and write a boatload of songs cause this will help overcome those immature feelings of doubt.

We must think like a salesman who plays the ‘Numbers Game’.
The more songs we write, the better our perspective becomes on our own work and the less worried we are about what other people think about us.

Sorry, there’s no way around this. We must create a catalog of songs to find our ‘voice’ as music composers.

Be patient with ourselves.
Put our hand to the plow.

And write, write… write.

JEALOUSY - IT'S ONE LOUSY CLOAK

JEALOUSY – a lousy coat.
It’s not the Christian’s style.
It’s the world’s style
*Envy
*Covetousness
*Resentment
*Protectiveness
*Suspicion
*Distrust
*Disbelieve
*Doubt
*Mistrust
*Have misgivings about
A musician, lyricist, composer, singer… someone in the arts – we are super sensitive which leaves us open for thoughts and feelings of jealousy.
Jealously quandary
it’s a brain activity
not a heart activity.

While we smile and pretend we are happy for someone else as we deal with thoughts like these:
1. There can only be one lead
2. Why didn’t they pick me
3. I am better than them
4. When will I get to minister in music?
5. I want to do my music

·         Luke 12:15:  Then He said to them, “Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.”
·         Colossians 3:5 “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.”
·         II Corinthians 11:3 “But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.”
The serpent in the Garden of Eden brought doubt so Eve yielded to that doubt and lost everything.
Gen 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.”
Jealousy – is a lousy coat worn to hide feelings of doubt. We all have covetous brain activity. We have a choice: Take off the jealousy coat and walk in God’s love or keep it on and lose everything.
